Club notes
Our senior team under new manager John Murphy captured their first trophy of the year when they captured the Leinster Club League Div5 Shield title with a good 3-17 to 0-11 victory over Arklow Rocks Parnell in the Final played in the Clans last Saturday afternoon April 23. The Moninne team was Donal Connolly, Tadhg Litchfield, Darren O Hanrahan, Stephen Rafferty, Diarmuid Murphy, Brian Carter, Aaron McGuinness Smith, James Murphy, David Yore, Ultan McEnaney (0-2), Conor Murphy (1-5), Seamus Mulhall, Fionn Cumiskey (0-1),Dylan Carey (1-6), Cathal Azzopardi (1-1). Subs were Kyle Judge (0-1), Paul Challoner, Stephen Ryan (0-1), Jack Mulvihill, Ciaran Walsh, Ronan Reid McEntaggert, Conor Lee. The club send best wishes to Aaron McGuinness Smith who suffered a reoccurrence of a shoulder injury in this match.
On the same afternoon in Pearse Park the Louth hurlers suffered a second disappointing defeat in the Lory Meagher Cup, losing to Longford by 1-16 to 1-15. Starting for Louth were Mark Gahan (0-1), Feidhelm Joyce (0-1) and Darren Geoghegan (1-8) with Andrew Mackin, Padraig Fallon and Mattie Fee all making substitute appearances.
Also on Saturday several of our young hurlers featured for Louth in their narrow 3-11 to 5-8 defeat to Monaghan in the U17 Celtic Challenge in Darver.
Last Thursday night April 21 our senior team recorded a good 3-16 to 1-9 victory over St Fechins in the Special League in Termonfeckin. The Moninne scorers were Conor Murphy (2-4), Dylan Carey (1-5), Ultan McEnaney (0-2), Fionn Cumiskey (0-2), Cathal Azzopardi (0-2) and Stephen Rafferty (0-1).
Our young U11 hurlers played Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock in a game last Tuesday April 19. The team was Cian Maloney, Eoin Maloney, Charlie Nordon, Aoife Dowdall, Grace Davies, Lucy Dignam Moloney, Dillon Heaney, Megan McGarrell and Finn Sexton.
A reminder for parents that the Naomh Moninne Hurling Cul Camp will be held in Dowdallshill from Monday August 2 to Friday August 8 and can be booked on line at kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.
