Club notes
Our senior team recorded a second victory in the Cuchulainn Cup League on Wednesday night June 15, when they proved too strong for Naomh Peadar Warrenpoint in a game played in good conditions at Dowdallshill. The final score was 2-29 to 0-10 with Moninne having led by 1-14 to 0-7 at half time.
The Moninne team was Donal Connolly, Donal Lee, Chris Lennon, James Shevlin, Stephen Rafferty, Brian Carter, James Murphy, Mark Gahan (1-7), Andrew Mackin (0-1), Ultan McEnaney (0-2) Darren Geoghegan (0-14), Seamus Mulhall, Stephen Ryan, Dylan Carey (1-1), Kyle Judge (0-2). Subs used were Mark McGuinness (0-1), Darren O Hanrahan (0-1) and Conor Lee.
Training continues for all juveniles on Saturday afternoon at the Fairgreen from 2pm to 3pm with the usual €2 contribution still applying. New players are welcome.
Our U17 team opened up their Tain Og League campaign with a good 4-14 to 4-10 victory over Carrickmacross away on Monday night June 13. The Moninne team was Seamus Reid, Matthew Dignan Moloney, Tadhg Dowdall, Conor Caraher, Oisin Curran, Aaron Heaney, Luke McCourt, Conor Whyte, James Byrne (0-2), Luke Haughey, Daniel O Shaughnessy, Martin Tkacz (0-2), Ryan Heaney, Sam Phelan (4-10), Ruadhan Joyce. Sub used Shane McGuinness Smith. The team are fixed to play East Cavan Gaels next Monday night June 20 at venue and time TBC.
Knockbridge was the venue on Tuesday night June 14 for a good U11 blitz where Moninne played games against Na Piarsaigh/Blackrock, St Kevin’s and Knockbridge. The Moninne panel was Josh Murphy, Dillon Heaney, Finn Sexton, Lucy Dignam Moloney, Charlie Nordon, Aoife Dowdall, Edward Fanning, Grace Davies.
Our senior team looked great in their new jersies at the recent 2021 League Final and the club would like to acknowledge the great sponsorship by Declan Muckian 'The Vinegar Man'.
Parents are reminded that the Naomh Moninne Hurling Cul Camp for 6 to 13 year olds will be held in Dowdallshill from Monday 8th August to Friday 12th August and bookings can be made on line at kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.
