Congratulations to our senior players who helped Louth gain promotion to Div3A of the NHL with a terrific 3-16 to 0-15 victory over Fermanagh in the Div3B decider in Darver on Sunday afternoon June 6. Afterwards the cup was presented to captain Feidhelm Joyce by Gaa President Larry McCarthy who was a welcome visitor to the home of Louth Gaa.
The Moninne players that started for Louth on Sunday were goalkeeper Donal Connolly, Mattie Fee, Darren O Hanrahan, Darren Geoghegan(0-7) and Feidhelm Joyce.
This week sees a commencement of games with our U15 team first into action this Tuesday night June 8 against St Kevin's/Matt/G Emts in the league at the Fairgreen at 7.30pm.
On Wednesday night our senior team take on Knockbridge in the opening round of the Special League at the DKIT at 8pm.
Rounding off the week this Thursday night our young U11 hurlers are in Knockbridge for a blitz at 6pm.
Training for all juveniles U6 to U17 continues next Saturday afternoon from 2pm to 3pm with the usual €2 contribution still applying. New players are welcome.
Membership is now due at the following rates- adult player €60, student player €25, non player €25, juvenile €20 and family membership €60.
The club would to thank the members who helped out at the general clean up at Oldbridge Estate in Toberona adjacent to the entrance to our new pitch development. The club are relaunching their Field Heros scheme seeking out new members to contribute to financially to the pitch development by contributing €5 a month.
The club were saddened to hear of the death of our Honorary President Fr Andrew Kane on Wednesday June 2. A member of the Dominican Order he was posted to the Friary Church and had a big involvement in local Gaelic games with strong links to Dundalk Gaels and Naomh Moninne.
A requiem mass was celebrated in St Mary's Priory Church, Tallaght on Saturday June 5, followed by burial in the Community Cemetery.
